What we believe
We believe we can depend on God to tell us the truth. We highly recommend reading the whole Bible to find out what that is, but here is a short summary of some core elements of our belief.
The Bible is the Word of God.
It is God’s message to each of us, relevant to each human being in every age, land, and circumstance. God cannot lie, so it’s true.
2 Timothy 3:16, Titus 1:2
God is the Creator of everything
He therefore has complete authority over the universe, including us. He is absolutely holy in his character and unlimited in his knowledge and power.
Genesis 1:1, Isaiah 57:15, Proverbs 15:3, Jeremiah 32:17
We have a sinful nature
It unfortunately produces many thoughts, words and deeds that are offensive to God.
Romans 3:10, Romans 3:22,23, Romans 5:12
Sin
It is unacceptable to God and he will judge it.
Romans 2:16, Romans 6:23, Revelation 20:12
Salvation
Salvation from eternal judgment is only possible through the Lord Jesus Christ. Sinless himself, the Son of God became a man and voluntarily suffered for our sins on the cross. God his Father punished him for all the sins of mankind. We can contribute absolutely nothing to this great sacrifice, nor do we need to, because God is entirely satisfied with this finished work. We simply receive salvation as a free gift through faith in Christ alone. (more)
Isaiah 53:6, John 14:6, Acts 4:12, Romans 6:23, 2 Corinthians 5:21
Jesus
He not only died, but rose from the dead, was seen by hundreds of eyewitnesses, and returned to heaven. He promised before he left that he would come back and take to heaven those who belong to him. (more)
1 Corinthians 15:3-6, Luke 24:51, John 14:3
The Holy Spirit
He was sent to earth after Jesus’ return to heaven and now lives within every true believer. This is why a Christian wants to please God and how they are able to do so.
Romans 8:9
Baptism
It was commanded by the Lord Jesus Christ. Every person who has trusted him for salvation should demonstrate by this symbolic act the great reality of what happened when they were first saved. Immersion in water represents identification with Christ in his death, burial, and resurrection.
Matthew 28:19-20, Romans 6:4-6
Fellowship
Fellowship with other believers is an important part of God’s plan for Christians. The source and focus of our church fellowship is the person of the Lord Jesus Christ. We find instructions for our gatherings in the Bible.
Matthew 18:20, Acts 2:41-42
